Fun, imagination-inspiring exhibits fill the rooms of the Children's Museum of Illinois, with activity areas like the "Deep Blue Sea," where youngsters can paint their own underwater scenes, and "CMI Airlines," with a special child-sized cockpit for children to take on imaginary travels all around the world. Other activities explore science and the natural world, such as the power of wind in "Amazing Airways!" and machinery at the "Gear Wall." The museum sits just north of Scovill Zoo on the south side of Lake Decatur, opposite the downtown area.
